Landata Technologies has integrated its Landata e-Recording System with Frost Bank's LegalEase, an online service simplifying the process of paying for governmental services.

"With LegalEase, title companies, attorneys and other entities that record, file and retrieve documents with Texas counties can manage all their payments online," said Alan Cellura, president and CEO, Landata Technologies.

"When used with our e-recording system, for example, funds to pay for the recording are automatically transferred from the submitter's account to the county clerk's account," said Cellura. "LegalEase eliminates any overpayment or underpayment on the part of the submitter, which also assists the county clerk in keeping accounts balanced."

LegalEase is an Internet-based system in which the customer provides a 16-digit account number for all transactions. Funds are sent electronically to the bank account the county chooses – it's a guaranteed payment. LegalEase is used for recording, filing, document copy retrieval and other fees generated by counties all across Texas.

LegalEase provides a Web site to research all transactions, and service can be started by executing a simple agreement.

"Partnering with Landata helps us provide the safest and most efficient method of paying for image-based recording, filing and document retrieval," said Tom Frost III, senior executive vice president, Frost Bank.

One example where LegalEase is being used in conjunction with the Landata e-Recording System is Bexar County (San Antonio), where approximately 3,000 documents per month are paid for using the system.

Landata Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stewart Information Services Corp., offers electronic document conversion with indexing services, recordation systems, e-recording and data warehousing with e-commerce to government entities and title companies.

Stewart Information Services is a technology-driven real estate information and transaction management company providing title insurance and related information services through more than 7,800 policy-issuing offices and agencies in the United States and numerous international markets.
