KnowYourClosing.com Educates Homebuyers About the Real Estate Closing Process

RICHMOND, Va.,-- Many a homebuyer is perplexed by the details involved in buying a house, especially the closing process. Just what is a "closing," or "escrow," or "title insurance," or a "survey"? A new website -- KnowYourClosing.com -- helps clear up some of the mystery and confusion.

Developed by LandAmerica Financial Group (NYSE:LFG), a leading provider of real estate transaction services, KnowYourClosing.com answers such basic questions in easy-to-understand language, using a question-and-answer format and brief descriptions.

In addition to a glossary of terms, the website contains links to a variety of other helpful sites, including state insurance departments, governmental and independent resources, consumer finance reference sources, major title insurance companies, and more.

Site visitors will find a step-by-step description of what to expect on closing day, what title insurance is and why it's important, the role of a settlement agent, and other helpful information explained in simple statements.

"KnowYourClosing.com is not intended to be a sales tool for LandAmerica," said Theodore L. Chandler, Jr., LandAmerica President and CEO.
