Stewart Announces Second Year of Community of Sharing Program

February 5, 2013

Stewart Title Guaranty Co. announced the continuation of its charitable giving program as part of its Community of Sharing initiative. The company hopes to raise $40,000 or more for HelpingaHero.org through this year’s initiative, with the funds going to help wounded veterans attain home ownership.

More than 1,900 associates of Stewart Title Guaranty Co.’s independent agencies participated in Stewart’s Community of Sharing Program in 2012 and raised $42,000, exceeding the $35,000 donation goal. The funds were used to help make home ownership possible for wounded veteran, Staff Sergeant Shilo Harris, USA (Ret). Harris’ story was featured on ABC’s series finale of the popular television program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Dec. 10, 2012. Stewart Title Guaranty plans to accomplish this goal for a second year to help build homes for wounded military heroes.

"I am excited to continue raising funds through Stewart’s philanthropic program to help make home ownership possible for our brave veterans," said George Houghton, group president, agency operations. “After the success of last year’s program, we hope to again exceed our goal with the help and participation of our network of title agencies across the United States.”

As a part of the title agency program, agents are asked to watch a series of videos to learn more about Stewart products and services that can benefit the agency. For every video viewed by an agency associate, Stewart donates $20 to the HelpingaHero.org organization. Agencies can also make additional personal donations to HelpingaHero.org to further the cause.
