LandAmerica Appoints Theodore L. Chandler, Jr. as Chief Operating Officer

RICHMOND, Va., /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc., (NYSE: LFG - News), a leading provider of real estate transaction services, has promoted Theodore L. Chandler, Jr. to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Chandler will be responsible for all of LandAmerica's operations, which includes title insurance operations, agency services, and onestop services for regional and national lenders. He will report to Janet A. Alpert, the company's president. A member of the board of directors since 1991, Chandler joined LandAmerica in 2000 and most recently served as the company's senior executive vice president, where he was responsible for strategy development and an expanded strategic focus for the company.

Prior to joining LandAmerica, Chandler practiced law for 22 years at Williams Mullen where he served on the board of directors and led the corporate and securities team. Chandler also serves on the board of directors and executive committee of Hilb, Rogal, and Hamilton Company, a New York Stock Exchange property and casualty insurance broker, and the board of directors for Mutual Assurance Society of Virginia, a 200-year-old mutual insurance company.

Chandler received his juris doctor from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond and his bachelor of science degree in accounting from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
