Interface 'plugs in' appraisal review

General American implements middleware product in effort to eliminate multiple data sending programs

A la mode Inc. and General American Corp. announced that General American will implement a la mode's Mercury middleware product into its appraisal review process to receive appraisal data from its suppliers.

The middleware product aims to eliminate the need for appraisers to own several different programs to send appraisal reports to all of the mortgage lending and appraisal management companies they serve.

The application programming interface is an open architecture, based on Extensible Markup Language, that enables third-party software developers to write "plug-ins," which allow the product to function as both data input for appraisers and final data output for appraisal users, according to a la mode.

The plug-in will also check appraisal data against "business rules" that are unique to the company's operations, according to a la mode. The rules verify that calculations, comparable adjustments and other fields of information have been included in the report and completed to specifications.

Appraisal products sent using the plug-in will flow directly into General American's internal production system, which facilitates the tracking of appraisal orders and the accounting associated with each order, according to a la mode.

General American provides technology and settlement services to the real estate and mortgage banking industries.

Oklahoma City-based a la mode designs, developments and supports real estate related software and Internet and electronic document technologies.
