ALTA Member Named to Real Estate Law Society Advisory Board

David A. Townsend, president and chief executive officer of Agents National Title Insurance Co., has been named to the inaugural Real Estate Law Society Advisory Board at the University of Missouri School of Law.

The Real Estate Law Society is dedicated to educating its members about the current legal issues, educational opportunities, and career opportunities in the area of real estate law. The RELS provides opportunities and resources for members to satisfy their curiosity and cultivate their knowledge of various real estate practice areas including construction law, real estate transactions and real estate finance.

After graduating from the University of Missouri School of Law, Townsend was in private practice in Columbia with Ford, Parshall and Baker, LLC. After moving to St. Louis, he became involved in the title insurance industry as an in-house attorney for a local title agent.

Townsend then went to work for First American Title Insurance Co. as an agency representative and underwriting counsel. In 2005, he founded ANTIC, a regional title insurance underwriter headquartered in Columbia, with licenses in eight states.

Townsend is a member of ALTA’s Government Affairs Committee, the State Legislative/Regulatory Action Committee and Title Counsel Committee.
