Southern California Chapter of PREP Holds First Meeting

The Southern California Property Records Education Partners (PREP) Chapter held its first meeting in September in Santa Ana, Calif.

The agenda included a discussion about PREP and its purpose. The remainder of the meeting included three panel discussions. The first panel was titled "A Real Estate Information Panel," which included speakers from First American Data Tree, CoreLogic and Data Quick.

The second panel discussion focused on "Hot Topics for County Clerk/Recorders Relating to Real Estate Filings" and included presentations from LA County Registrar's office, Orange County Clerk-Recorder's office, Riverside County Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder and San Bernardino County Auditor Controller.

A third panel was titled "Real Estate Fraud Divisions" with panelists from LA County Assistant District Attorney's office, Orange County District Attorney's office, Riverside County District Attorney's office and San Bernardino District Attorney's office.

Zach Zaharek, a member of ALTA’s Real Property Records Committee member, is the business co-chair of the Southern California PREP Chapter.

PREP provides a local structured forum for stakeholders of the property records industry to meet and work together more effectively. The association is an alliance formed by Property Records Industry Association (PRIA), the American Land Title Association (ALTA), the American Escrow Association (AEA), the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials & Treasurers (IACREOT) and the National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials & Clerks (NACRC).
