Demotech Releases 2012 Financial Stability Ratings of Title Underwriters

April 10, 2012

Demotech Inc., financial analysis firm headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, has affirmed the Financial Stability Ratings (FSRs) assigned to title underwriters based on a review of year-end 2011 statutory financial information. First National Title Insurance Co. is in the process of finalizing an FSR. The FSR assigned to Manito Title Insurance Company (NAIC# 51446) was withdrawn as the company merged into General Title Insurance Company on Feb. 10.

FSRs are a leading indicator of the financial stability of title underwriters and represent Demotech's opinion of the ability of the insurer to meet its insurance related obligations based upon its assessment of financial information. FSRs are not an endorsement of any particular insurer or its products, according to Demotech. Insureds and agents need to independently evaluate their relationship with a particular insurer as well as the applicability of that insurer's products to the needs of the insured or agent, the company said in a release.
