North American Title Names Two State Agency Managers

December 10, 2013

North American Title Insurance Co. (NATIC) recently named Scott Anthony Peterson as state agency manager in its Mid Atlantic region, while Michael Rubin was named state agency manager for Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Peterson, who has more than 17 years’ experience with major and regional title insurance companies located in Maryland, will oversee Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

“As NATIC continues to grow its agency base, Scott’s experience with several well-known and well-respected underwriters will assist us in signing and servicing quality independent agents,” said Geoffrey Ginn, senior vice president, independent agency for NATIC. “We are hiring staff to respond to our growth as well as to the burgeoning real estate market in the greater Washington, D.C., area.”

Peterson most recently worked as an agency representative and account manager for a national title insurance company. Previously, he worked for a regional and two other national title insurance companies in business development and as an agency representative. Peterson began his title career in 1996 with another major underwriter, learning the industry from the ground floor as a title examiner, underwriter, and sales and marketing representative.

Completing his associate degree in business administration from Montgomery College, Peterson was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He served for four years in military intelligence, where he held top secret security clearance from the U.S. Department of Defense.

“I’m here to help the independent agent be successful,” Peterson said. “NATIC has the reputation of being a good partner for independent agents, and I’m looking forward to helping them grow their business as we grow our own.”

Meanwhile, Rubin has been in the title industry for 16 years, most recently as president of a title agency located in Northfield, Ill., just north of Chicago.

“Michael’s tenure on the agency side of the title insurance industry, including his last four years in an ownership capacity, was a significant factor in NATIC’s decision to enlist him for this position,” Ginn said. “We uniquely view our agency relationships, not as simply numbers on a spreadsheet, but as partnerships built upon common goals and shared visions. Michael will help us communicate that across our agency network.”

Rubin began his career as an escrow officer for a title agency in the Chicagoland area. Working up to sales manager and then branch manager, he then served at several title agencies in a range of executive positions, including state operations manager, director of business development, vice president/partner, and finally, as agency president. Rubin is active in the Illinois Land Title Association (ILTA), serving on the finance, settlement services, communications and education committees—as well as a subcommittee to create an ILTA certification program. He is also a member of the American Land Title Association and the Missouri Land Title Association.

“It has been a dream of mine for over a decade to work for a growth-minded underwriter in an agency management capacity,” Rubin said. “I relish the thought of partnering with truly outstanding independent agents and I look forward to helping them achieve their dreams. That is my commitment and that is what NATIC is all about.”
