BuckleySandler Promotes Partners

May 27, 2014

BuckleySandler, a national financial services and criminal and civil enforcement defense law firm, reported the election of Benjamin Olson, Amanda Raines and Lauren Randell to the firm's partnership

"We are delighted to welcome Amanda, Ben and Laurie to the partnership," said Andrew Sandler, the firm's chairman and executive partner. "Amanda and Laurie have spent their careers working on some of the most significant enforcement, litigation and trial matters at our firm with our senior partners, doing outstanding work for firm clients and demonstrating their commitment to the development of a strong collaborative firm culture. Ben joined us only last year from the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) and has quickly become a critical member of our team and an invaluable source of advice to our clients."

Olson represents financial services institutions in matters involving compliance with CFPB mortgage and credit card regulations, particularly the rules implementing the Dodd-Frank Act and CARD Act amendments to the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA). He also assists clients in preparing for and complying with regulatory changes, including the CFPB's integrated TILA and RESPA mortgage disclosures, designing terms and disclosures for mortgage and credit card products, and conducting regulatory due diligence for potential mergers and acquisitions transactions. Prior to joining BuckleySandler, Olson was the deputy assistant director for the Office of Regulations at the CFPB where he played a principal role in the development and issuance of mortgage industry rules mandated by the Dodd-Frank Act. He also served as counsel for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve where he played a leading role in the development of new rules governing the credit card industry. Prior to that, he worked in the Federal Trade Commission's Division of Financial Practices where he investigated and prepared enforcement actions against financial service providers for unfair and deceptive practices and other violations of consumer financial protection laws.

Raines represents financial institutions in a variety of matters, including federal and state enforcement agency investigations and litigation, private civil and class action litigation, regulatory examinations, and corporate internal investigations. She has represented clients in matters involving the Department of Justice, the CFPB, the Securities and Exchange Commission, federal and state bank regulators, and state attorneys general.

Randell represents individual and corporate clients in civil and criminal enforcement cases and trials, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), white collar criminal defense matters, criminal antitrust, securities enforcement defense, securities class action litigation, environmental criminal defense, and consumer litigation.
