Managing social profiles, status updates, trending topics, etc., can be daunting. Having the proper tools and infrastructure in place for your business is crucial to your marketing success. If you are lost with where to start or feel like you are making mistakes on social media, these tools will be a great starting point. Although there are plenty of social media tools agents could benefit from, I’ve boiled it down to these six as a starting point.

1. Hootsuite

Hootsuite is a social media scheduling tool. The free version allows for three social accounts to be connected. The ability to schedule posts in advance means you can do all of your social media posts for the week in one sitting.

2. Pages Manager

Pages Manager is a free app from Facebook for your mobile phone. Pages Manager lets you manage your Facebook business page right from your smartphone. This is a great way to stay in touch with anyone who likes, comments or messages you while you are away from a computer.

3. Rapportive

Rapportive is an email extension that will pull up information on anyone who emails you. It’s a great way to grow your LinkedIn network and circles in Google Plus because you can add people without ever leaving email.

4. Bit.ly

Bit.ly is a URL shortening service that allows you to take big URLs and shorten them significantly. More importantly, it gives you stats on how many times your shared link was clicked. Click-thru rate is a good measure of content quality, alongside number of social shares.

5. Klout

Klout is a reporting tool that you can use internally to measure your digital marketing efforts. After signing into Klout and connecting your accounts, you will receive a score. Don’t be alarmed if your score seems low. The average Klout score is 40, and anyone north of 63 is in the top 5 percent of all users.

6. Social Mention

Social Mention is a social monitoring tool that lets you see who’s mentioning you around the net and in what context. Although you shouldn’t spend every waking hour checking your mentions, it is good to go through once or twice a month and see what people are saying about you.

These social media tools will help make any real estate agent’s time more managed — and they’re free.
