State of Play on Capitol Hill: Members of Congress to Debate Regulatory Reform during Fed Conference

April 21, 2015

While the Dodd-Frank Act will not be repealed, incremental and positive changes to the current regulatory structure have a chance of passing the House and Senate with bipartisan support.

Register for ALTA’s 2015 Federal Conference and Lobby Day to hear members of Congress from both sides of the aisle offer insight into the regulatory reform efforts in the House Financial Services Committee. Reps. John Delaney (D-MD) and French Hill (R-AR) will offer their perspectives during the May 19 general session titled “State of Play on Capitol Hill for the Real Estate Industry.”

“This is a great opportunity to hear from some of the most knowledgeable and engaging members of Congress,” said Michelle Korsmo, ALTA’s chief executive officer. “Developing legislation that benefits consumers and business should be everyone’s priority, and attendees will get an inside look at how both parties are working to find solutions.”

In addition to serving on the House Financial Services Committee, both worked in the mortgage industry before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

For two decades, Hill worked as a commercial banker and investment manager. He was founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Delta Trust & Banking Corp., which recently merged with Arkansas-based Simmons First National Corp.

Delaney, meanwhile, founded two companies that eventually became public companies. In 2000, he launched CapitalSource. Prior to that, he founded HealthCare Financial Partners in 1993.
