Iowa Now E-recording with Simplifile in All 99 Counties

May 12, 2015

Hardin County is the final Iowa county to adopt electronic recording (e-recording) of documents through Simplifile, making e-recording available statewide.

“Having this service available in all of Iowa’s 99 counties is a wonderful accomplishment,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “Without question, we feel privileged to be partners with each individual county in the state of Iowa and applaud them in their decision to provide this technology that is both cost-effective and convenient not only for them, but also for their customers.”

Using Simplifile’s web-based service, customers such as title companies, banks, and attorneys can electronically prepare or scan and upload documents and send them securely to the county online for recording in minutes. Benefits of e-recording include fewer payment errors, reduced mailing expenses and increased document security. Recording fees and payments also can be processed electronically through Simplifile using Automated Clearing House, eliminating check-writing expenses.

Iowa joins six other states—Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, and Massachusetts—in statewide adoption of e-recording through Simplifile. Nationwide, over 1,225 recording jurisdictions e-record with Simplifile, more than any other e-recording service provider.

High-speed Internet access, a computer and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to e-record with Simplifile.
