ALTA President Receives Leadership Award from October Research

June 9, 2015

ALTA President Diane Evans NTP received the 2015 Leadership Award from October Research during the 11th annual National Settlement Services Summit in Atlanta.

Evans has served the title insurance industry for more than three decades. She joined Denver, Colorado- based Land Title Guarantee Company in 1981 and currently serves as vice president.

“I’m humbled to be recognized as an industry leader by October Research,” Evans said. “It is a honor to serve as president of ALTA, which continues to develop tools and provide resources to help title professionals compete in today’s regulatory environment.”

Evans has testified twice before Congress over the past few months. In April, Evans testified before the House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit. In May, she testified before the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee. During both hearings, Evans highlighted the need for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to modify and clarify the new TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (TRID) rule to help ensure a seamless transition to the new regulatory requirements come Aug. 1. She also urged Congress to push the CFPB to amend its rule requiring inaccurate disclosure of title insurance premiums and to support H.R. 2213, which would implement a hold harmless period for CFPB enforcement actions regarding TRID through 2015.

In addition to serving as ALTA’s president, Evans also is a member of ALTA’s Government Affairs Committee, State Regulatory Advisory Committee, NAIC Committee and Agents Executive Section. Additionally, she has served as chair of ALTA’s Abstracters and Title Insurance Agents Section Executive Committee.

Evans also has been active in the title industry in Colorado as well. She served as president of the Land Title Association of Colorado in 2001, served on its Board of Directors from 1992-2002 and continues to serve on its legislative committee. She has served on the Colorado Secretary of State E-Recording Panel, a member of the Producers Council of the Colorado Division of Insurance and the Colorado Division of Insurance Title Advisory Panel. She has served as chair of the State Board of Land Commissioners and on the Colorado State University System’s Board of Governors.

Also receiving awards were Dick Reass, owner of RynohLive and Reliant Title, who received the Innovation Award; and Kevin Tacher, CEO of Independence Title, who received Philanthropy Award.

“The awards recognize the highest standard of professional achievement in the settlement services industries,” said Erica Meyer, CEO and publisher of October Research. “We can think of no better way to call attention to these talented individuals than to honor them through this awards program.”
