LandAmerica Names Daniel B. Maidlow Vice President and Counsel

June 14, 2005

LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE: LFG), a provider of real estate transaction services, announces that Daniel B. Maidlow has been named Vice President and Counsel for LandAmerica 1031 Exchange Services. In this role, he will oversee the expansion and supervise the daily operations of the company's 1031 exchange services operations in the Detroit, Michigan area. He will be located in the Troy/Detroit Commercial Services office.

Mr. Maidlow came to LandAmerica from a Chicago law firm dealing predominately in the areas of real estate and corporate law.

Norm Essey, SVP - Midwest Commercial Services, said, "Maidlow's commitment to superior service will prove instrumental in seeing LandAmerica 1031 Exchange Services continue its dynamic growth in the Michigan area."

Maidlow received a bachelor of arts in business administration from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and he received his law degree from The University of Toledo College of Law in Toledo, Ohio. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar, and the Federation of Exchange Accommodators.
