New York State Land Title Association Elects Officers

September 1, 2015

The New York State Land Title Association (NYSLTA) announced its newly elected officers for the 2015-16 membership year. The election was conducted at the association’s annual meeting conducted August 16-19.

NYSLTA continued its practice of alternating the presidency between representatives associated with its title and underwriter sections. Marianne Mathieu NTP of Fidelity National Title Group was named president for the 2015-16 membership year. She succeeds Rafael Castellanos of Expert Title Insurance Agency.

“I am honored by the confidence that my colleagues have extended to me,” Mathieu said. “With the support of our membership, it is my hope that during the next year we continue to move forward by adapting to regulatory and operational changes on the state and national levels. Among our priorities will be for underwriters and title agents to maintain a commitment to best practices and to clearly demonstrate to consumers the value of the title agent.”

Under Rafael Castellanos’ leadership, NYSLTA realized significant achievement during a period of industry transformation.  The association’s voice is valued by the real estate finance community and trusted by legislators and regulators.  It has played a meaningful role to bolster consumer protections, establish well-defined competency standards and promote transparency. Castellanos will continue to serve NYSLTA on its Executive Committee as immediate-past president.

Joining Mathieu and Castellanos as officers are Bill Collins, of Frontier Abstract and Research as president-elect and John Martinico of Security Title Guarantee Corp. of Baltimore as treasurer. The title section will be chaired by Marvin Bagwell of Old Republic Title Insurance Co. with Mary Jane Keyse of Fidelity National Title Group as vice-chair. The abstracter and agent section chair is Richard Giliotti of The Judicial Title Insurance Company. Vice-chair is DeAnna Stancanelli of National Granite Title Insurance Agency.
