Excel Title Group Expands Texas Presence

September 10, 2015

Excel Title Group LLC of Plano, Texas, has acquired the assets of the First American Title offices in Amarillo and Canyon, according to Scott Luna, CEO of Excel Title Group. Deb Strother, has been appointed division manager of the Excel-Amarillo operation.

The company has offices in Plano and San Antonio and licensed title plants in 47 Texas counties.

In 2014, Scott Luna and his father Carl Luna, Excel’s general counsel, joined Amarillo-based Underwood Law Firm, expanding the firms’ real estate experience and creating an opportunity for Excel Title Group to have access to legal counsel over a broad geographic area. With Texas offices in Amarillo, Lubbock, Pampa, Hereford, Fort Worth, Plano and Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Underwood’s real estate law practice group represents buyers, sellers, developers, builders and lenders in a broad range of real estate matters in Texas and Oklahoma.

“When my father and I joined the Underwood Law Firm, we recognized the synergies that could evolve from  expanding  Excel Title Group title operations into West Texas. With a First American Title office located in Amarillo where Excel’s lawyers, the Underwood Law Firm  has a 103-year presence, Excel felt like First American Title would be a great fit,” Luna said. “We liked the people and operations at First American Title and are very pleased to welcome them to the Excel Title Group family.”

The Amarillo operation of First American Title currently has licensed title plants in Potter, Randall, Oldham and Armstrong counties. With the transition to Excel Title Group, the firm will expand its West Texas presence to Throckmorton and Carson counties. First American will continue to serve as an underwriter for Excel Title Group.
