United General Title Insurance Company Hires Drum to Expand National Agency

DENVER, /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United General Title Insurance Company is pleased to announce the expansion of its national agency department with the hiring of Joe Drum, executive vice president/national agency manager. Drum will be developing and working closely with United General's national agency department and its field offices in the areas of sales, account management, cross-selling of ancillary services, personnel recruiting, and agency set-up of multistate, regional and national agents.

United General became part of First American Title Insurance Company in February 2005.

Drum has been in the industry for the past 31 years and is currently senior vice president for First American Title Insurance Company and enterprise manager for Mercury Companies. He will continue to serve in these management roles.

Prior to joining First American, Drum was the executive vice president in charge of strategic initiatives for another national underwriter. He is co-author of the following books: "Understanding RESPA" (1992), "Understanding Reg X" (1994), and "Mortgage Finance" (1996). He also is the author of many articles on topics ranging from Native American rights, exclusionary zoning, landlord tenant laws, GSEs and the secondary mortgage market. Drum is the former chairman of the board of directors of the International Institute and trustee of Park City Hospital. He is the past chairman of the Real Estate Committee of the New York/Connecticut Chapter of the American Corporate Counsel Association and past president of the New England Land Title Association. Drum is a member of the Boston and Connecticut Bar Associations and was admitted to the U.S. District Court in Connecticut, New York and Washington D.C. He holds a bachelor's degree from Hiram College/University of Nebraska and obtained his juris doctorate from Quinnipiac College of Law in New Haven, Conn. He also completed M.I.T.'s Center for Real Estate Studies post-graduate program. Between college and law school, Drum joined the Peace Corps where he taught mathematics and English in the West Indies.
