U.S. Rep. French Hill Highlights Congressional Liaison Lunch at Fed Conference

April 28, 2016

U.S. Rep French Hill (R-AR) will serve as the speaker during the Congressional Liaison Lunch on May 16 during ALTA’s 2016 Federal Conference and Lobby Day. (Click here to register for the conference).

Hill will address how he worked with the industry to introduce the Homebuyers Assistance Act last year, the TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosures (TRID) and where Congress is headed on oversight of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

Hill, along with Brad Sherman (D-Calif.), sponsored the Homebuyers Assistance Act (H.R. 3191). This bill would have created an official hold-harmless period for companies making good-faith efforts to comply with TRID. The U.S. House of Representatives in October passed the bill by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 303-121.

During last year’s Federal Conference, Hill shared how actions on Capitol Hill affect the real estate industry. In addition to serving on the House Financial Services Committee, Hill worked in the mortgage industry before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. For two decades, Hill worked as a commercial banker and investment manager. He was founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Delta Trust & Banking Corp., which recently merged with Arkansas-based Simmons First National Corp.
