Stewart Prior Files Database Reaches 3 Million Policies

March 12, 2004

Houston ? Landata Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Stewart Information Services Corp. (NYSE-STC) , announces that Stewart Prior Files, an online database of Stewart Title's prior policies, now has more than 3 million policies available online for 24 states.

?This is one of the largest online databases of prior policies in the industry,? said Elana Yonko, product specialist, Landata Systems, Inc. ?Stewart affiliates and agents can now search properties faster and with more accuracy than ever before.?

Stewart Prior Files is searchable on multiple criteria, such as legal description and property address, and provides a starter file with the most recent Stewart prior policy available. It is linked to a national database of prior policy information for Stewart Title policies issued across the United States.

Electronic files of prior policies are sent via e-mail, providing a solid base to bring the title search forward from that point. Online access to prior policies reduces the amount of time required to perform the necessary title search before issuing the title policy on a piece of property.

The database, storing Stewart policies issued from 1994 to 2002, is available to Stewart affiliate offices and Stewart-issuing agents.

Included in the database are prior policies from the following 24 states: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah and Virginia.

In the future, Stewart Prior Files will include prior policies from the states of Michigan, Mississippi, Washington DC and Washington State.
