LandAmerica Announces Leadership Promotions in California

RICHMOND, Va., -- LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE: LFG) recently announced the following leadership promotions in California:

Edwin J. Kezar, Jr., has been promoted to Senior Vice President - West Region, with responsibility for the company's Residential Services operations in San Diego County. Kezar will also continue his role as Production Resources Manager for LandAmerica operations in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii from his base in San Bernardino. He joined the company in 1996 and has served in positions of increasing responsibility on both the commercial and residential sides of the business. Before that he served as a residential title officer in San Diego for a major title insurance company.

James P. Kozel has been promoted to Senior Vice President -- West Region, with responsibility for the company's Residential Services operations in Los Angeles, Ventura, and Kern Counties. He is based in Burbank and had been serving as Area Manager overseeing LandAmerica's Gateway Title subsidiary. Kozel returned to LandAmerica in 2004 after serving as Senior Vice President - - National Operations for a major real estate settlement services company for nine years. Previously he served LandAmerica's Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company subsidiary as a Regional Manager in California and before that as Regional Manager for Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Kozel received his masters of business administration degree in finance from Pepperdine University and his bachelor of science degree in finance and accounting from the University of Illinois. James T. Smith has been promoted to Senior Vice President -- West Region, with responsibility for the company's Residential Services operations in Orange and Inland Empire Counties. He is based in Irvine and had been serving as Area Manager for LandAmerica's Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation subsidiary. Before that he served Lawyers Title in a variety of leadership positions of increasing responsibility in Orange County. Smith received his bachelor of arts degree in speech-communications from San Diego University.
