The White House Designates June as National Homeownership Month

May 17, 2007

For the sixth consecutive year, the White House has designated June as National Homeownership Month, with the goal of expanding homeownership opportunities for all Americans.

I’d like to personally encourage all of our members to participate in this month-long celebration by promoting the title industry and the vital role we play in the homeownership process. Today, more than ever, it’s important to educate consumers about title insurance and reinforce the value of what we do.

As ALTA celebrates its 100th anniversary, we can all take great pride in the fact that, for an entire century, the title industry has provided America’s homeowners with the peace of mind that comes from knowing their most treasured asset is safe. From the title research, examination and repair work we do to the insurance policies we issue, the title industry has helped millions of Americans realize their dreams of owning a home. In the Public Awareness Program section of our Web site, you will find helpful tools including advertisements, brochures, presentation materials and an article about National Homeownership Month that members can send to their local newspapers. You can also volunteer in community projects, such as Habitat for Humanity. (ALTA is sponsoring a Habitat build at the upcoming annual convention in Chicago this October – stay tuned for details on how you can get involved.)

I urge everyone to find out what’s happening in your community to celebrate National Homeownership Month, and get involved!

Sincerely,

Greg Kosin 2007 ALTA President
