TSS Software Integration With Data Trace Puts Title Searching in High Gear

July 31, 2007

Annapolis, MD- TSS Software Corporation, one of the nation's largest independent providers of settlement services software, revealed the development of an interface with Data Trace Information Services, a national title technology company. For title companies using TSS's TitleExpress title and settlement system, the interface automates search requests to Data Trace, making the task simple, efficient, and paperless.

Title companies will be able to request needed searches electronically through TSS's RealExpress online data exchange platform, which is available through the order management functionality within TitleExpress. The interface with Data Trace streamlines the search ordering process for end users, providing entry through their TSS software. There is no need to leave their application to open another, and no re-keying, printing, faxing, or e-mailing. The interface allows requests for various search types-tax and assessment, upper court, county, corporate, and flood-to be automatically generated and sent to Data Trace. Results are returned to the requester electronically and can be merged into the appropriate file.

For 40 years, Data Trace has been building automated databases by acquiring public records from counties across the country. In New Jersey, for instance, the company has been building automated plants since 2002. To date, Data Trace has completed 20-year databases for five counties in the state with nine more scheduled for completion over the next 12 months, according to Amy Holder, Regional Vice President for Data Trace's New Jersey and Pennsylvania Region. "We're excited about the integration with TSS. There are title agents in our region, loyal TitleExpress users, who are eager for this interface with Data Trace. We look forward to servicing these agents with the fastest technology available," Holder said.

Conversely, Holder predicts the availability of an interface could make the popular TitleExpress system the sought-after production platform for current Data Trace customers. "We're looking forward to a long-term working relationship with the folks at TSS," Holder said.

As the largest independent software provider to the title and settlement services industry, TSS has a nationwide customer base of over 16,000 users, encompassing title agencies, settlement services providers, and abstracting companies of all sizes.

Richard Sochor, TSS Vice President and CTO, said that speed is predominantly what makes integrations attractive to title professionals. "Faster turnaround and increased efficiency can give them an edge over competitors. This interface with Data Trace minimizes the time a title company's staff spends to complete the required reports. It's a faster, better way to order the products they need."
