Members of the ALTA Board of Governors met with senior staff at HUD today to discuss the proposed RESPA rule and how it would affect the title and closing industry. Gary Kermott, First American Title Insurance Company; Mike Pryor, Lenders Title Company; Diane Evans, Land Title Guarantee Company; and Ted Rogers, Security Title Guarantee Corp. of Baltimore joined Kurt Pfotenhauer and Ed Miller at HUD. Gary Cunningham, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Housing; Ivy Jackson, Director-RESPA; Barton Shapiro, Deputy Director-RESPA; and others reviewed title industry concerns with the rule and how we can best help shape a rule that would be helpful to consumers and workable for industry.
