July 11, 2000

The House Banking Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises, chaired by Rep. Richard H. Baker, R-LA, will hold a hearing at 10 a.m. July 20 in 2128 Rayburn House Office Building, on the "Housing Finance Regulatory Improvement Act," H.R. 3703.

Witnesses will include representatives from America's Community Bankers, the Financial Services Roundtable, the Mortgage Bankers Association, the National Association of Home Builders and the National Association of Realtors.

"It's important that we maintain an open door to those in the homeownership and mortgage finance industries, and to hopefully receive their constructive input as we look into this issue," Baker said.

At the three previous hearings the Subcommittee heard from banking and housing regulators, housing GSE officials and taxpayer and consumer interest groups.
