FirstAm Buys Virtual Office Technology, Plans Transaction Management Platform

The First American Corp. (NYSE: FAF) announced it has acquired Prudential California Realty?s WebTop virtual real estate office technology.

The WebTop technology aims to help real estate brokers streamline and manage their business using the Internet. The software includes built-in client relationship management and Web site management software, automated listing alerts, an interactive online calendar and an integrated MLS.

First American plans to combine WebTop with its other real estate transaction technologies, CloseYourDeal.com, TheVendorManager and FastWeb, to produce a real estate transaction management platform.

"The acquisition of the WebTop technology is an integral part of our strategy to drive efficiency and profitability in the real estate marketplace. We now have all the pieces we need to provide brokers and their agents with a truly definitive platform," said First American President Parker S. Kennedy.
