Roger Blauvelt New Eastern Regional Counsel; Jeanne LaBelle New Vice President and Closing Counsel

RICHMOND, Va., /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc., (NYSE: LFG)  has promoted Roger Blauvelt to Eastern Regional Counsel. An experienced industry professional, Blauvelt will provide support to state and local counsels, underwriters, and managers throughout New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, and Puerto Rico. Blauvelt joined Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company in 1985 as New Jersey state counsel. He assumed the additional role of state manager in 1988, and was named Northeast regional counsel in 1990. In 1996, Blauvelt's responsibility grew to include the Mid-Atlantic region. In 1998, he was appointed senior vice president Northeast regional counsel. Most recently, Blauvelt served as senior vice president - Affiliated Business for the Northeast region. Prior experience includes working in a private practice for five years and as a partner in a title agency.

Blauvelt graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with an emphasis on the Classics, and has his Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law. He is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, the New York Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Blauvelt has also served as past president of the New Jersey Land Title Association and was a member of the American Land Title Association forms committee.

In another decision, LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc., (NYSE)  has hired Jeanne A. LaBelle as vice president and closing counsel at Commercial Settlements, Inc., the company's commercial operations in Washington, D.C. An experienced industry professional, LaBelle will be responsible for underwriting and closing major commercial real estate transactions in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. She will also provide underwriting support for national transactions. Dennis J. Vendetti, senior vice president and manager of the Washington, D.C. National Commercial Services division, said, "We are pleased to have a person of Ms. LaBelle's experience and talent associated with our organization. Her addition reinforces our tradition and commitment to providing the finest in commercial closing services to the Washington, D.C. real estate community."

Most recently, LaBelle served as vice president and regional counsel for another major underwriter. La Belle began her career as a real estate paralegal and title examiner with the firm Goodwin Procter, in Boston, Massachusetts. LaBelle is a frequent speaker and author on real estate law, financing, and title insurance.

LaBelle graduated from St. Mary's University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts degree and has her Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School. She is a member of the American Bar Association, The District of Columbia Bar Association, Women's Bar Association/District of Columbia and Massachusetts Bar Association.
