Freddie Mac's Single-Family Mortgage Servicing Portfolio Hits 10 Million Loan Mark

June 6, 2002

McLean, VA - Freddie Mac announced today that its total servicing portfolio of mortgages reached 10 million mortgage loans, an important milestone in its commitment to making homeownership accessible and affordable for America's families.

The achievement caps a tremendous time for Freddie Mac. In 2001, it worked with its lender customers to finance housing for nearly three million families, and funded more than $475 billion of mortgages. Last year, nearly $2 trillion of 1-4 family mortgages were originated in the U.S.

Single-Family Executive Vice President at Freddie Mac Paul Peterson gave credit to Freddie Mac employees and customers. "The commitment of our employees and the dedication of our customers enabled America's families to take advantage of mortgages rates that reached historic lows. The 10 million mark is incredible, and we are committed to continuing the march to higher homeownership levels, giving more families a strong financial stake in their communities and their own future."
