Fannie Mae Ranks First on 'Best Companies for Minorities' List

July 1, 2002

Fannie Mae ranked number one on Fortune magazine's "America's 50 Best Companies for Minorities" list, which recognized companies that demonstrate the highest commitment to diversity in the workforce.

Fannie Mae has ranked fourth place or above for each of the five years that Fortune has been compiling the information. Fannie Mae moved up from the number two ranking in 2001 to the top position "thanks to a high percentage of minorities at all levels of management," praised Fortune.

All Fortune 1000 companies and 200 privately held U.S. companies were asked by the magazine to complete a survey about diversity in their workforce. Companies were ranked on various criteria -- including but not limited to -- overall commitment to diversity, compensation packages, and diversity at the executive level.
