American Land Title Association Statement in Response to Violence at U.S. Capitol

Washington, DC, January 7, 2021 — The American Land Title Association (ALTA) Chief Executive Officer Diane Tomb issued the following statement regarding the violence that occurred Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol:

“The insurrection and violence we saw Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol leaves a heartbreaking stain on our country’s history. The rioters’ intolerable actions were an attack on the rule of law, our traditions and our institutions.

“Completing the peaceful transfer of power is a significant part of the democratic fabric of our country. We commend Congress for fulfilling their Constitutional duties and certifying the election following the mayhem. ALTA looks forward to working with the Biden-Harris administration and the new Congress. We will continue to support bipartisan collaboration in developing policy that provides housing opportunities for all people across America and protects the property rights of every consumer nationwide.”
