Year-to-date sales were also up in the state, posting an approximate 7.7 percent increase over the first nine months of last year.

VAR President Carol Clarke cited record-low mortgage rates as the factor driving potential buyers to make a move.

Year-to-date sales were at 62,369 units on an unadjusted basis in September. This was 8 percent higher than the 57,773 units sold during the same period last year.
