December 1, 2006
HOUSTON -- Stewart Title of Colorado has acquired Telluride Mountain Title Co. Existing management and staff will remain with the office, with co-founder and former chief executive officer Marty Bregman now serving as president of Stewart Title of Colorado - Telluride Division. Co-founder and former president Sharon Helwig Miller will remain with the title agency in an advisory position.
"This longtime Telluride title agency provides coverage in another resort/destination community which we are pleased to add to our lineup of offices in Winter Park, Aspen, Vail, Steamboat and Dillon," said Rand Zimmerman, Stewart Title group president.
Stewart had served as the exclusive underwriter for the office since its founding in 1989.
"The timing was right for us to come on board with Stewart," said Bregman. "Stewart has an excellent support organization and is a technology leader, with products such as the SureClose® transaction management system.
"Telluride is a rapid-growth market with a strong influx of second-home buyers," added Bregman. "With SureClose, buyers located anywhere in the world can view the progress of their home purchase from any computer with Internet access, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. SureClose is just one of the tools we will use to continue to provide excellent service to the home buyers, sellers, real estate agents, brokers, attorneys, lenders and builders in our community."
Bregman is a 22-year veteran of the title industry. He graduated with a B.A. from George Washington University, received his J.D. from Denver University Law School and moved to Telluride in 1986.
Telluride is located in southwest Colorado near the Four Corners. Containing a National Historic Landmark District, the town sits at an altitude of 8,750 feet, surrounded by the 13,000-foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains. It is a 12-minute gondola ride to the Mountain Village ski facilities, and is also a center for cross-country skiing, summer golf, fly fishing, and hiking and biking in the nearby 3,000-acre San Juan National Forest.
