PLTA Presents Ronald Froggatt Award to PA Representative Glen Grell

May 3, 2007

During a visit to Harrisburg last week, a delegation from the Pennsylvania Land Title Association (PLTA) presented the association’s Ronald Froggatt Award to Representative Glen Grell. Grell, who represents Pennsylvania’s 87th District (Cumberland County) in the State Assembly, is the first recipient of the award, which recognizes him as a “Friend of the Title Industry.”

As an attorney and licensed title insurance agent in Pennsylvania, Representative Grell came to understand the value of title insurance in the real estate transaction process, and the importance of our industry to homebuyers, who need efficient closings for the sale and purchase of real estate and secure ownership of homes in Pennsylvania. Grell sponsored the state’s Mechanics Lien statute and shepherded it through passage across several years. When recent changes were made to the Act, he made sure that the rights and interests of the title industry were reflected through insertion of important language protecting lenders’ mortgage liens.

The award commemorates the late Ronald Froggatt, who was prominent in the land title insurance industry from 1954 through his death in 2005. In making the presentation, PLTA President Adrienne Verdone, Esq., CLTP said: “Ron earned the respect of his colleagues and friends within the industry and received the highest awards that our industry and association have to offer. In addition, he was loyal to his colleagues and friends in other communities – he was very well respected and appreciated for his contributions to banking associations, educational organizations and religious groups. He was a man of great integrity, and when he said thank you, he meant it. In that spirit, on his behalf and on behalf of the Pennsylvania title insurance industry, I say to Representative Grell a heartfelt thank you for all that he has done.”

Founded in 1921, PLTA is one of the nation’s oldest and largest state title associations. PLTA members are represented regionally across Pennsylvania by its Southwestern, Northwestern, Central, South Central, Southeastern, Lehigh Valley and Northeastern chapters.
