MISMO Approves Version 3.1 as Candidate Recommendation

The Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO) voted March 29 to approve the elevation of Version 3.1 to the status of Candidate Recommendation.

This version builds on the data set of the Version 3.0 Reference Model by adding new data, including:

Mortgage Insurance
Credit Reporting
Property Valuation (Appraisals)
RESPA requirements for the origination of loans (required as of Jan. 1, 2010)
Unified approach to handling eMortgage SMART Docs and normal documents

This data set brings the Version 3 architectural model on par with all published specifications from previous years in the Version 2.x series, and defines the solution for the next generation of automated mortgage processing. Originally published for a 60-day public comment period that began Aug. 25, 2010, MISMO has resolved more than a thousand comments from the industry and incorporated them into this release.
