CFPB Targets Builder for Alleged Sham Joint Ventures

A month after announcing an enforcement action against four mortgage insurers for alleged kickbacks to lenders in exchange for business, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reached a settlement against a Texas homebuilder for alleged kickbacks it received from joint ventures with a state bank and a nonbank mortgage company.
