First American Names Chief Economist

First American Financial Corp. named Mark Fleming as the company’s chief economist and will provide valuable commentary on and forecasting of trends in the real estate and mortgage markets.
“Mark’s analytical expertise will be a great addition to our team as we continually seek to increase the value we provide our customers,” said Dennis Gilmore, chief executive officer at First American. “We believe his insights will produce information that can help our customers better navigate today’s dynamic real estate environment.”
Fleming’s research expertise primarily includes real estate and urban economics, applied econometrics and mortgage risk. As a trusted and influential voice with 20 years of experience in the mortgage and property information business, Fleming is frequently quoted by national news outlets and industry trade publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and Housing Wire, and is a regular guest on high-profile broadcast news channels, including CBS, CNBC, Fox Business News and NPR.
More recently, Fleming developed insights and analytical products as chief economist for a large real estate data and analytics company. Earlier in his career, he developed property valuation models while serving as principal economist at Fannie Mae.
