Georgia Law Firm Receives ALTA Best Practices Certification from HA&W
October 13, 2015
O’Kelley & Sorohan, Attorneys at Law LLC recently became certified to ALTA’s “Title Insurance and Settlement Company Best Practices."
The law firm’s testing and attestation reporting was conducted by the independent accounting firm of HA&W through its ComplianceSuccess Program.
“Once ALTA Best Practices were named as the standard for compliance testing in the industry, the firm jumped right into the process of becoming ALTA Best Practices compliant,” said Lee Fields, managing director of HA&W’s ComplianceSuccess Program. “O’Kelley & Sorohan truly recognized the importance of early adoption, as well as certification from an independent third-party CPA firm to provide their lenders with a high level of assurance. Financial institutions recognize and trust the validity of CPA attestation reports.”
Prior to beginning the ALTA Best Practices compliance process, O’Kelley & Sorohan had undergone several residential audits. These audits provided O’Kelley & Sorohan with a strong foundation to begin its journey to becoming ALTA Best Practices compliant.
“Choosing to become compliant with ALTA Best Practices changes the way you do business. You have to build it and live it, which doesn’t happen overnight,” said Joe O’Kelley Jr., the managing member at O’Kelley & Sorohan. “I’d recommend to anyone that has not yet begun the process of becoming compliant with ALTA Best Practices, that they get started with the process as soon as possible.”
Kelley added that “We chose to partner with HA&W’s ComplianceSuccess Program for our compliance certification because they’re the trailblazers in ALTA Best Practices testing and reporting. Their team is active in the industry, speaking regularly at conferences and committees. From the beginning, HA&W has demonstrated the value of its program and it was their knowledge of the industry and responsiveness that enabled us to move through the compliance process with ease.”
