Former Senators to Keynote Free ALTA Advocacy Summit

What better way to learn more about the inner workings of Congress than to chat with former legislators? ALTA is honored to announce that we will be hosting former Sens. Trent Lott and John Breaux Sr. at the free and virtual ALTA Advocacy Summit, May 18-20. Sponsored by Stewart, the keynote will feature Lott’s and Breaux’s perspective on the agenda of the Biden Administration and the 117th Congress and the dynamics of the 50-50 Senate as well as a Q&A period.

Now a director and senior partner of Crossroads Strategies (CRS), a multidisciplinary lobbying firm in Washington, D.C., Lott represented the people of Mississippi in Congress for 35 years and is one of a few officials to have held elected leadership positions in both the House and Senate. During his 16 years in the House and 19 years in the Senate, he worked closely with seven presidential administrations.

Also a director and senior partner of CRS, Breaux represented the people of Louisiana in the Senate for 18 years and the House for 15 years. At the age of 28, he was the youngest member of the House. He held a number of key Senate committee positions, including the Finance Committee.

If you’ve never experienced ALTA Advocacy Summit, now is the time to try it on for size! Free and virtual, this year’s event couldn’t be more convenient. In addition to hearing some of Washington, D.C.’s most well-informed speakers, attendees also will have the option to meet virtually with Congressional members. The meetings are all arranged by state, so you only need to attend one day of meetings to talk with the legislators relevant to your district. (And if you’re nervous, don’t worry: ALTA staff will train you on industry issues during the event!)

To make sure your voice is heard on Capitol Hill, put the dates—May 18-20—on your agenda and get ready to create a lasting impression on members of Congress.
