July 9, 2024
Doma Title Insurance Inc. has appointed Gerry Simon as vice president and regional underwriting counsel for its Northeast region. In this position, he will provide underwriting support to the company’s agents and enterprise operations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as assist with operations throughout New England.
Simon brings nearly three decades of title and settlement services experience to the position, most recently serving as vice president and North Atlantic regional counsel for a national title insurance underwriter. From 2008 to 2018, he held the position of senior vice president general counsel for a national asset management company that provides services to the REO industry. Prior to that, he worked as agency counsel for title insurance companies in Pittsburgh, serving agents throughout the Midwest region.
“Gerry has the skills to play in the field as well as bat a thousand,” said Valerie-Jahn Grandin, executive vice president and chief underwriting counsel for Doma. “His broad experience with national underwriters, his handling of leading roles in major title agencies, and the expertise he gained while working with investors in the REO industry make him a valuable addition to the Doma team as well as a strong ally for our agents in the field.”
Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, he has served on the Delaware, Ohio and Pennsylvania rating bureaus.
“I have been fortunate to work with several professionals at Doma in the past, and I have been impressed by their knowledge and expertise as well as the great working relationships they enjoy within the company and with their agents,” Simon said. “In particular, I have always shared Doma’s focus on being prompt and responsive to an agent’s inquiries. I look forward to providing concise and accurate information to agents in the field, educating them on the nuances of underwriting decisions and advising them in complex situations.
