More Than Half of Title Professionals Report Deals Impacted by Government Shutdown

A survey from ALTA reveals that 54% of respondents said transactions have been directly impacted by the recent federal government shutdown. The survey, which gathered responses from nearly 200 title professionals nationwide, highlights the ripple effects of federal agency closures on real estate closings, lending and title work. Title agents, underwriters, escrow officers and real estate attorneys reported the greatest pain points are concentrated in rural housing, agricultural loans and federal lien processing, but ripple effects are hitting buyers, sellers and small title businesses nationwide.
