ALTA Updates Two TIRS State Compliance Guides

March 24, 2026

ALTA’s TIRS State Compliance Guides contain state-by-state regulatory and local practice material for entities establishing real estate title and closing operations. This resource is available for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Updates were recently made to the guides for Kansas and Oklahoma.

Kansas: The updates include good funds law and recent changes to the controlled business and escrow audits among other edits. Editor of the Kansas TIRS is Ashley Garr, regional underwriting counsel for First American Title Insurance Co.
Ohio: The updates include statutory changes regarding the mortgage tax certification fee, alien ownership affidavit requirements, authorization of online sheriff’s sales and expanded remote online notarization provisions, among other edits.. Editor of the Oklahoma TIRS is Jennifer S. Jones, senior underwriting counsel for First American Title Insurance Co.
