Meet Emily Mincey: The Advocate, Strategist and Spark Behind ALTA’s Meetings
March 31, 2026
Some people plan meetings. Emily Mincey builds experiences, then finds a way to make them better the next time.
As ALTA’s director of meetings and conference operations, Emily plays a key role in shaping how the association shows up for its members. She operates at the intersection of logistics, strategy and creativity, helping bring together the many moving pieces that turn ideas into events worth showing up for.
If you ask the ALTA team, you’ll hear this quickly: Emily doesn’t just keep things running, she pushes them forward.
Thinking Ahead (and Then a Few Steps Further)
Emily’s favorite part of her job is site selection, but not for the reasons you might expect.
“It requires us to think about what meetings will be like and what our members will want next month, next year, next decade,” she said.
That long-range thinking is one of her defining strengths. She’s constantly anticipating needs and spotting opportunities to improve the experience before anyone else has raised the question.
Colleagues describe her as someone who is “always five steps ahead” with an ability to connect the dots between strategy, member expectations and execution. Or, more simply: “Emily never misses anything—she has thought of it and she has it covered.”
Nothing About Meetings is Singular
Ask Emily what she’s most proud of at ALTA, and she won’t point to a specific event or milestone.
Instead, she talks about the people.
“There is nothing I have worked on that I can take sole credit for… Nothing in meetings is singular.”
It’s a perspective that defines how she works. From collaborating with the Meetings team to partnering across departments—from education to communications to government affairs—Emily sees every successful event as a shared effort.
She’s known for jumping in wherever needed, supporting colleagues beyond her immediate role and helping teams find solutions that work for everyone. Teammates describe her as “a total rockstar,” “the definition of a team player” and someone who “always goes above and beyond.”
She brings people together, and in doing so makes everything better, from how the team works to how it connects and even how much the team enjoys the process.
Confidence, Candor and a Very Sharp Edge
Emily also is known for something else: saying what needs to be said.
She advocates strongly for members, asks the hard questions and isn’t afraid to challenge assumptions when something can be better. But she does it in a way that’s grounded, thoughtful and often funny.
“She stands up for what she believes in and somehow still manages to make people laugh along the way,” one colleague shared.
That mix of confidence and humor makes her both effective and approachable. You know where you stand with Emily, and you know she’s going to push until the details are right.
And if her career had taken a different turn? It’s safe to say she would have done just fine in a courtroom. As one teammate put it: “If Emily were a lawyer, I’d hire her to represent me.”
Energy You Can’t Miss
There’s also an undeniable presence Emily brings to ALTA, and it’s hard to ignore.
Her energy is often described as “infectious.” She has a way of lifting the room, easing tension in high-pressure moments and making even the busiest days feel a little more manageable.
“She is one of the reasons I enjoy coming to work,” one colleague shared. Another put it simply: “She’s just fun to be around.”
Whether she’s navigating a last-minute curveball at a meeting or celebrating a win with the team, Emily shows up fully and lifts others with her.
Exactly Where She Wants to Be
Ask Emily if she’d ever want to swap jobs with someone at ALTA, even for a day, and her answer is immediate.
“No one,” she said. “I probably have the best job here.”
It’s a bold answer, but it’s also completely genuine.
Emily thrives in the fast pace, complexity and challenge of her role. She enjoys the process of building something from the ground up and seeing it come together in a way that serves members and supports ALTA’s broader mission.
That level of ownership shows up in everything she does. She pushes for improvement, looks for smarter ways to work and raises the bar—not because she has to, but because she wants to.
Rooted in Service
At the center of Emily’s work is a strong belief in service.
She emphasizes the importance of a service mindset in association work, where the goal is always to support members in meaningful ways. That perspective shapes how she approaches meetings, ensuring they deliver not just value, but connection and purpose.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her family, her dog Ladybird and catching up with friends. Known for her love of conversation, she says she’s “rarely met a thought she didn’t think should have friends.”
A Force Behind the Work and Within the Team
Across ALTA, Emily has built a reputation for being the person who figures it out.
She thrives in complex, fast-moving environments, finding solutions, keeping things on track and making sure nothing slips through the cracks. She doesn’t settle; she refines. She doesn’t wait; she steps in.
At the same time, she brings a level of authenticity that shapes the team around her. She shows up as herself—direct, funny and fully engaged—and creates an environment where others can do the same.
That combination is what makes her impact so meaningful. It’s not just what she delivers, but how she makes the people around her better in the process. Across ALTA, that impact shows up in stronger meetings, sharper teams and a culture people genuinely want to be part of
