Thomas A. Klemens To Senior Executive Vice President / Craig I. DeRoy Named Senior Executive Vice President

SANTA ANA, Calif., PRNewswire/ -- The First American Corporation (NYSE: FAF) today announced several promotions.

Thomas A. Klemenshas been promoted to senior executive vice president. He will retain his duties as chief financial officer.

Klemens joined First American in 1985, when he became vice president- controller for the company's primary subsidiary, First American Title Insurance Company. He was appointed principal accounting officer for both First American Title and The First American Corporation in 1992, then a year later, was named vice president-chief financial officer for both entities. He was promoted to executive vice president of the corporation in 1996.

A graduate of California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, Klemens is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Accountants. He lives in San Clemente, Calif., with his wife, Patricia, and their two children.

Craig I. DeRoy has been named senior executive vice president. He will retain his duties as general counsel.

DeRoy joined First American in 1993, when he was appointed vice president-general counsel for both The First American Corporation and its largest subsidiary, First American Title Insurance Company. His increasing involvement in the operations of the holding company led to his promotion to executive vice president-general counsel of The First American Corporation in 1996. Since 2001, he also has served on the board of directors for First American Title Insurance Company.

DeRoy has more than 20 years experience in corporate and environmental risk management and is a published authority in the field. A graduate of the University of Southern California and Loyola University School of Law, DeRoy also holds a master of laws degree in taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law. He resides in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., with his wife, Loren, and their two sons.
