Existing Home Sales Figures Reach All-Time High, According To NCAR

Existing home sales figures in North Carolina set an all-time high in 2001, according to statistics compiled by the North Carolina Association of Realtors.

A total of 71,782 residential units were sold, surpassing 2000's figures by 4 percent and bettering the previous record of 71,450 units sold in 1999.

Corresponding sales dollars were up as well, totaling $12.7 billion in 2001, an 8 percent increase over 2000's totals.

Areas showing double-digit sales growth in 2001 include Asheville, Fayetteville, Goldsboro, and Wilmington, according to the 24,500-member NCAR.
