Poll Finds Consumers Value Online Companies? Privacy Statements

Eighty-four percent of U.S. consumers think companies should be required to submit their privacy policies for independent verification, according to Harris Interactive and reported by Nua Publishing.

Ninety-one percent said they would do more business with a company that had its privacy policy independently verified, the Harris poll found.

Consumers? top three privacy concerns are that their information will be provided to other companies without their permission, their transactions may not be secure and hackers could steal their personal information.

Eighty-three percent said they would stop doing business with a company that had misused customer information, Nua reported.
