Increases Accessibility to World's Largest Database of Imaged Land Records

SAN DIEGO, PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Data Tree LLC, a large national provider of imaged recorded property documents and a member of The First American Corporation (NYSE: FAF) family of companies, has announced the integration of owner name and property information search functionality to its electronic document retrieval systems.

For the first time, customers can locate documents within Data Tree's repository of more than 1 billion records without knowing the recording number assigned to those documents by county registrars. Electronic images of publicly recorded deeds, mortgages, judgments, easements and maps can be retrieved and instantly delivered to the customer's PC by entering a property's street address, owner's name or assessor's parcel number as search criteria.

"Data Tree has long been a backbone repository that large title companies and other high-volume land record search organizations have depended upon for fast, quality results," said Peter Gorrie, chief operating officer for Data Tree. "With the addition of this search capability, we have opened up our system to an entirely new market of smaller firms and individuals, particularly in the Northeastern states where large-scale title plants generally don't exist."

Adding owner/property search capability to the Data Tree repository was made possible through collaboration with other First American database information companies which, when viewed as a whole, possess systems and data far superior to competing providers of property information services.

"First American continuously searches for new ways to maximize the synergies between our companies and develop new and enhanced products," said Dennis J. Gilmore, president of First American's Property Information Group. "In this case, we were able to leverage Data Tree's strengths in building large, indexed databases and combine that with First American Real Estate Solutions' industry-leading property records search engine. The result is a unique and flexible product that satisfies the needs of several customer categories."
