November 9, 2006

HOUSTON -- Jim Gosdin, senior underwriting counsel for Stewart Title Guaranty Co., has been elected to the membership of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), one of fewer than 40 attorneys from around the country elected to ACREL in 2006.

Admission to ACREL is by invitation only. The group has become the nation's most prestigious honorary organization for practicing real estate lawyers.

Gosdin is a member of the American Land Title Association (ALTA) Forms Committee, a member of the ALTA Liaison Committee with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. He also serves on the ALTA Reinsurance Committee, as well as the Bylaws, and State Legislative and Regulatory Action committees.

Gosdin was named by the Texas Land Title Association as its person of the year for 1998-1999. He authored the seminal American Bar Association publication, "Title Insurance, A Comprehensive Overview," revised in 2000 and published as the second edition.

He is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in farm and ranch, commercial and residential real estate. Gosdin has worked for Stewart Title Guaranty Co. since 1976.

"Jim Gosdin is a leader in the title insurance and real estate industry," said Malcolm S. Morris, president, Stewart Title Guaranty Co. "He is clearly the go-to guy today. The best I might say about Jim is that he is the real estate attorney's attorney. Jim is in demand but always responsive. He is as much an institution as Stewart Title Guaranty Co. His family at Stewart is so proud of him and congratulates him on this distinguished honor."

ACREL was founded in 1978 as a non-profit organization of lawyers who have gained distinction in the practice of real estate law. This national legal real estate organization elects to its membership lawyers distinguished for their skill, experience and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of real estate law. The group devotes its efforts to improving the practice of real estate law around the country, and its membership consists of lawyers from 49 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
