MISMO Celebrates Successes and Record Attendance

February 1, 2007

The MISMO Title Insurance Workgroup met, along with 20 other active industry workgroups and over 200 attendees, during the MISMO Trimester Workgroup Meetings in Long Beach, CA, last week.

The Title Insurance Workgroup elected leadership for the coming year: Co-Chairs Darren Ross of Stewart Title and Eric Mayling of First American were re-elected. Charlie Epperson of Stewart Title will join the team as Title's Core Structures representative. Kelly Romeo of ALTA will continue as workgroup coordinator and Core Data Representative.

MXCompliance requirements were completed in two areas of interest to the industry: the MISMO Origination workgroup completed requirements for the Closing data set, Version 2.4; and the Title workgroup has completed requirements for the Title Request and Response transactions, Version 2.3.2 and 2.1. Look for announcements when these compliance tests are available to the industry.

The MISMO Governance Committee approved the formation of a new Government Housing workgroup, to include the four major Government agencies that conduct business in the mortgage market, Ginnie Mae, FHA, VA, and Rural Development (part of USDA), to collectively develop standards in an XML format for mortgage and real estate finance industry related transactions to support business processes unique to government agencies.
