Mortgage Grader Receives $100,000 Grant to Create National Web Tool Connecting Borrowers With Settlement Service Providers

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA-- Mortgage Grader has received a $100,000 grant to create a nationally scalable web-based information directory connecting homebuyers and home refinancers to America's real estate settlement services providers. All-Ahead (www.allahead.org), in association with the newly forming Fair Mortgage Collaborative, both supported by the Ford Foundation, provided the grant. Soon, information empowerment will afford America's borrowers a way to directly and anonymously price shop for 9 essential real estate settlement services located at the www.fairclosingcosts.com website.

"Mortgage Grader is honored and humbled to receive this generous support that may go a long way toward creating more affordable homeownership by easily locating low-cost providers to facilitate the home buying and refinancing process," said Mortgage Grader's President Jeff Lazerson. "Borrowers will be empowered through this anonymous, free search engine to decide who they want to consider without the time and hassle of fielding unsolicited sales calls," he added.

"Borrowers deserve a system that works for them. Fair Closing Costs can empower consumers to make smart choices about settlement providers, opening up access to options that borrowers may find more suitable for their budget and needs," commented George McCarthy, Senior Program Officer at the Ford Foundation.
