ALTA Members Take Time for Committee Meetings

October 21, 2009

While the 2009 ALTA Annual Convention doesn’t officially start until Wednesday evening, there was plenty of activity Tuesday filling the grand rooms of The Breakers in Palm Beach, Fla.

As some of the nearly 500 attendees began to register for the 102nd annual conference, several ALTA members participated in the association’s myriad committee meetings, which are open to all ALTA members. The day started with the reinsurance and title counsel committee meetings. The afternoon consisted of the title insurance forms committee.

Today, several more committees will meet, including education, title insurance forms, SLRAC and state association leaders, public relations, state officers, state executives, technology, government affairs, membership and organization, and the TIPAC trustees. Prior to Thursday’s general session, the international development, abstracters and title insurance agents section, and the title insurance underwriters section meetings will gather. The ALTA’s board of governors also will meet on Thursday following lunch.

Tuesday’s activities concluded with a president’s reception, and board of governors and state leaders dinner.

“The attendees of this year’s event have been in awe of the amenities offered by The Breakers,” said Cornelia Horner, ALTA’s meetings director. “Beyond the plush atmosphere, however, there’s a great amount of work taking place and we expect the event to be a success. We’d like to thank those in attendance that decided to make an investment in the future of the title insurance industry.”
